Startup Studios: A New Approach to Entrepreneurship
Startup studios, also known as venture builders or venture studios, are dedicated organizations that focus on launching startups in a structured and repeatable way. They provide shared resources, entrepreneurial expertise, and funding, allowing founders to focus entirely on building and executing their product vision. Unlike accelerators or investment funds, startup studios offer long-term support that starts at the ideation stage and continues through scaling. This model is typically led by experienced entrepreneurs and is designed to industrialize the creation of innovative companies
The Rise of Startup Studios and the Corporate Shift
Since 2007, startup studios have grown in number and diversity. Some operate independently, others specialize in specific sectors, and many are backed by large corporations. Companies such as AXA, Thales, and Schneider Electric have launched their own internal startup studios to drive innovation from within. This movement gave rise to more than 70 studios worldwide as early as 2015, and the number continues to grow steadily.
